It's already been said in the other comments that it's more or less just an arbitrary title, but I think of all games with "GOTY Editions" The Witcher 3 is definitely most deserving of the title, considering it won over 250 GOTY awards (not all awards listed, though it does state 250), which IIRC is more than any other game has ever won.

I'm going to be jumping into the Witcher 3 with the next gen upgrade so I'm looking on ebay to get a physical copy. There's a "complete edition" that includes all the DLC but I also see a standard edition that doesn't include DLC buuuut it has a cool map! I'd like to get the version with a cool map but if that means I have to pay for the DLC I
Because judging from all the new info and the mere fact it clocks in at 30+ hours making it larger than most other main base games this expansion is looking set to be the best thing released this year for the price of £15. With 90 new quests that in context compared to Fallout 3 + ALL DLC was 94 quests shows just how big this expac is.

Reminder: must get around to the Witcher 3 DLC at some point this year. Was ready to take a break after 100-odd hours last year - but it’s definitely a game I want to get back to. 0

foolben: I don't have the GOTY edition, but I believe that the 16 free DLC are already included in GOTY as well as the two expansions, so you don't have to download them separately. To be sure, just check in game main menu if you have the options for the optional outfits (they should be integrated in gameplay options).

If you feel like playing the base game before touching the DLC, I'd definitely recommend NG+. On the other hand, not replaying the game shouldn't be too big of an issue. It'll just be more difficult to buy certain things, not a real problem. Do whatever you like, but keep in mind that doing NG+ has a slight advantage.

Sometimes you can download the clean files and add the crack once it's released, saves downloading the full game when the crack is released. Makes it much quicker.
